Our institution has excellent relations with important international organizations.
• Adopem Savings and Loan Bank is an affiliate of the Women’s World Bank. In this capacity, we are part of a huge world-wide microfinance network, and we have the opportunity to take part in exchanges, courses, workshops and conferences. We also benefit from consultancies by highly qualified professionals, who also give us training and development.
• As part of our relationship with the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB), we have obtained support for implementing and developing the remittance bancarization program. Adopem will create mechanisms and instruments so that Dominicans who receive remittances may use them in productive activities, such as microbusinesses, and so that other products and services, such as housing loans, schooling insurance and vacation, are available to them.
• We developed the savings program with the support of the Spanish foundation Cooperación al Desarrollo y Promoción de Actividades Asistenciales (CODESPA). We have their support for the year 2007, for a project of bancarization of remittances from Spain. CODESPA has 80 ongoing projects in 21 countries in the world.
• The International Finance Corporation (IFC) agreed to invest US$1.0 million dollars in our capital stock.
• Likewise, the European Investment Bank (EIB) agreed to invest 1.0 million euros in our capital, and it also approved a line of credit in the amount of RD$168,000,000.00 for our institution, with a seven-year term, and with a three- year grace period.
• And with the ING Bank, of Holland, we have a consultancy agreement for strengthening our technological platform.
